What an amazing way to ring in the new year ! The Hurley family‘s first fossil hunting trip ! The massive Meg’s were monster Sharks. The first showed up about 20 million years ago, (Carchadon megalodon) was what we think was the largest meat eating fish that ever lived ! Scientists can guess the sharks size by the size of the teeth and spine. These massive sharks were estimated to grow up to 45-60 feet long! and weigh up to 50 to 70 tons ! With 46 rows of teeth and a mouth up to seven feet wide they must have had one heck of a bite ! It is believed that the Megladons breeding ground was in our own South Carolina waters ! Hilton Head Island‘s local waterways offers some of the best sharks tooth hunting in the world! Cant wait for the next trip !

One of our favorite trips is A Day With A Native Trip ! really following the story Hilton Heads beautiful nature offers us. This trip we went through Hilton Heads backwater’s behind Daufuskie Island to Savannah River where we beach comb for giant SHARKS TEETH, AMAZING SHELLS AND ANCIENT FOSSIL’S.
The Savannah River is the east coast’s largest shipping channel . So for the Dolphins its like a Kelly Slaters Wave pool ! they surf the bow wakes for hours upon hours playing and jumping ! I can’t wait to go again ! See you in the water soon!

Listen to my great friend Cindy Rodriguez! She sounds like a little girl at her tenth birthday party getting a new puppy! The energy is so contagious, some people never grow up. Lets hope none of us ever have to.
The palmetto lagoon system is unreal! 11 miles of saltwater lagoon winding through a hardwood forest. A magical concoction of Saltwater and forest birds mixed with forest critters and river dwellers. If you added all the time Captain Trent and I have spent exploring the waterways it would probably add up to a few years. No kidding, we have been fishing it since we were puppy drum. Capt Trent owns Palmetto Lagoon charters and is one of my best friend's and fishing guru. Eventhough I out fish him all the time. Hahaha Don't tell him I said that! We have so many stories between us that will blow your mind and I am going to finally let a few out of the fault. Seriously these stories are crazy , from sight fishing for bank robbers to giant alligator encouters. So check in with my chronicles every so often and enjoy a crazy story! Massive Red Drum caught Fishing Hilton Head waters! Girl Power does it again!
Exploring is everything to me. I love asking my clients "hey you guys wanna just go explore"? I find the essence of 'fishing' and life is looking in new areas and trying new techniques. Sometimes you hit the ball out of the park and sometimes not so much. This time we hit it out of the park, what a battle, what a surprise. The weather had just gotten nice after weeks of grey windy cold blaaahhhh.
We had the music pumping just enjoying the sun, having some laughs catching a few small Sea bass and Weakfish. Out of nowhere the big rod up on the rocket launcher started screaming, I yelled "Fish On"! Which was fitting because I was running my long time fishing partner Captain Trent Malphrus's New 24 foot Bad to the bone Pathfinder he named Fish On (Palmetto Lagoon Charters). After a heck of a tug O war we got the fish to the boat and snapped a shot! Native Son Adventures Practices catch and release 99% of the time, lets save our fishery and save the world! So cool and the memories are the priceless kine. Thanks Karash family and friends I will not forget that day!! See ya next year! STOKED OUT!
